Gregory C. Sowell
Overview
With nearly four decades of experience handling issues related to all aspects of business, banking and commercial lending, land use, local government, estate planning and probate, Gregory C. “Greg” Sowell brings an “outside the box” approach to solving problems.
Greg has extensive experience working with varied business and governmental interests such as local governments (cities, counties and boards of education), authorities (such as housing authorities, downtown development authorities and industrial development authorities), agencies of state government, banks (community and national), commercial financing, public financing (including local option sales tax, special purpose local option sales tax, tax allocation districts, business improvement districts and both general obligation and revenue bonds), franchised operations, telecommunications enterprises, agribusiness, employment issues (both public and private sector), zoning and condemnation.
Greg has taught general banking and business law to bank employees on behalf of both the Community Bankers Association of Georgia and the American Institute of Banking. He also taught Business Law at the college level for 20 years as an Adjunct Professor. Because of his experience and expertise in a number of interdependent facets of law, Greg has often been appointed by the Superior Courts as a Special Master to resolve thorny issues.
For his alma mater, the University of Georgia School of Law, Greg developed a practical and clinical course on the nuts and bolts of law practice called “Solo and Small Firm Practice.” Extremely well-received by both students and alumni, Greg taught the course at the Law School as an Adjunct Professor for five years.
Greg has an AV® Preeminent™ rating by Martindale-Hubbell.
